Because it's the channel owner's choice whether it is provided free, not Sky.

UTV (owned by STV owners) isn't in HD on satellite, but is on Freeview and Virgin. I thought STV was in HD - can't it be added manually?

Sky boxes are designed for Sky and not general sat use and Sky only use 22 & 27.5.

Yes I know that, I view STV HD on my SKYBOX M3! But Sky HD boxes use 23000 as well, but it is disabled in add channels. If they did not you would not receive BBC1 HD, BBC2 HD CH4 HD etc.

It looks like only the HD channels use 23000 and Sky have decided that the only HD channels you can have are the ones that they decide and you are not allowed to add extra ones. .

    Thier satellites, thier call.

Not really, they're SES's satellites on which Sky is the main UK platform.

OTOH, Sky give most of the receivers away free of charge.

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
