Package holiday reduced £400 days after booking.....

Hi I booked a holiday with Thomas cook on Tuesday this week and a couple of days later the same holiday was reduced by £400!!!! Can I get a refund for the difference......they have said NO!!!

I would ask yourself a different question - if the price went up by £400 days after booking would you expect to pay them the difference?
Unfortunately prices change daily, that is the risk you take. Presumably you were happy with the price you paid. It is annoying, but it is just one of those things.0 -

Unfortunately, the long and short of it....is No.
Nothing good generally comes from checking prices after you have booked (unless you are within the stage you could afford to cancel, lose just your deposit and re-book at a much lower price). I assume you were happy to pay the price you booked at, would you have been happy to pay the difference if the price had gone up?
I know it sucks but that's how the supply and demand business works.

Quite. It just feels wrong. There should be some sort of cooling off period with holidays....like insurances. Yup. Will think twice next time I book a holiday. Won't be as loyal to Thomas Cook as we have been in the past.0

when is the holiday for? the ts&cs should show what you would lose if you cancel the existing booking, ranging from deposit only to full value based on how far in advance the holiday is.
You can then calculate whether there is still a saving if you cancelled and rebooked0 -

You'll find all travel agents have the same policy - taking your money elsewhere will not solve the problem.0 -

When I've found a holiday and I'm happy with the price I book it, if the price changes so what!
Once booked I have the pleasure of looking forward to the holiday and the comfort of knowing it is booked.
The risk is it may go down, it may go up, or I may leave it to late and the weeks / resort / hotel may not be available
We go to Gambia every year and book a year in advance with Gambia Experience, if they bring out a later brochure and the price has gone down they ring up and tell us and refund the difference, if it goes up they do not require any extra0 -

Provided you still have the receipt take them back, get a full refund and buy them again for £3
