Quite. It just feels wrong. There should be some sort of cooling off period with holidays....like insurances. Yup. Will think twice next time I book a holiday. Won't be as loyal to Thomas Cook as we have been in the past.

Did Thomas Cook make any guarantee that when you booked, it was the lowest price that they'd sell the holiday at?

Like someone else said... If it went up by £400 would you ring thomas cook up to pay the difference? Errrrrr NO!

Then buy a pack for £3 and then take them back with the £7 receipt, it amounts to the same :p

We go to Gambia every year and book a year in advance with Gambia Experience, if they bring out a later brochure and the price has gone down they ring up and tell us and refund the difference, if it goes up they do not require any extra

I booked direct with Discovery Cove (same price at the time as other sites). When we checked in for the day they told us they had restructured their pricing and it had gone down so they refunded us £80 onto our CC!!!:T

OP You may find that while it's now £400 cheaper you have to pay for transfers, decent size baggage etc. so while it may still be cheaper take care if you decide to lose deposit and rebook!

I got caught out on a Thomas Cook flight to Canada the same way a couple of years ago. I think what happens is that they sell a certain number (of specific holidays/flights etc) and then discount the price. In a way it was your purchase at the full price that contributed to them discounting the remaining holidays....I got nowhere trying to get a refund and I recall the prices of the flights had reduced by about £400 as well.

Regarding Tesco socks. Or M & S ones. I think there is a limited window in which you can return something and get a full refund. After that if it is in the sale you get a refund of the sale value. I have had direct experience of this.

I will never understand why people book/buy etc then still keep looking, can anyone enlighten me.

If I buy say a cooker, I research it, buy it at a price I am happy with, why would I still keep on looking for one......
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Me neither ... I have just booked a mini cruise for May next year. I know it will be discounted at some point before we leave, but it is a present for my sister's birthday this week, so I have no option than to book now. I will definitely not be looking at that or any of the other holidays I looked at. It was the best deal at the time, and that's it.

They do say, when you go on holiday you should never discuss with other passengers the price paid, as you will always find someone who has paid less than you!

    Guilty :D

I can't help it and tbh I'm such a compulsive discount finder I can only once recall flight price dropping after I had booked. I booked 3 Virgin flights to Florida for £888 after researching and watching them hover between £1200-1400. A week after booking they were down to £808 for the same flights. I even checked again a few days later and they were back in £1200 range.

I wasn't too upset as I thought that under £900 for the 3 return flights was a bargain so losing out on £80 didn't bother me.

I will check on anything and it's such a buzz knowing you've had a bargain. I bought a bed last year for DD and paid under £400 - which I new was a brill price for the bed. A week later it's £580.

I've even bought a £5 return bus ticket to take a dress back to store 40 miles away as I had paid £185 and on line it was 25% cheaper delivered. I figured it was worth a fiver and I was only working part time so had the time to spare!

I'm not really an impulsive buyer except for clothes but even then if I buy something I will check price on line on when I get home and if it's much cheaper I will order on line and return to store if they have a no quibble returns policy!
