Hi there, would be grateful for some advice. I am a mature student trying to declutter possessions before moving into student accommodation. I would like to do some selling on E-bay but the flash on my digital camera is no longer working and batteries for the camera are pricey. Therefore, I was thinking about getting a mobile phone with a camera. The mobile phones I have looked at online don't have a flash. Could someone please let me know if this sort of phone would be suitable for indoor photos. Also, I have never had a phone with a contract before. I am wondering if most contracts are for 2 years - I was looking at Tescos website. Thank you for taking the time to read all this.:T

    Hello Rhoan!

Standard contract lengths with an inclusive mobile phone start from 12 months, but you can also get 18 and 24 month contracts too. The shorter your contract, the more pricier the plan as you are paying for the phone over a shorter length of time. This is why a lot of people tend to go for 24 month contracts, as spreading the cost of the phone over a longer span of time works out cheaper - usually cheap enough for people to get a better phone than they would normally be able to afford.

Most mobiles have flash as standard - were you speaking about a specific phone when you said "this sort of phone," as I'm not sure whether you were or not? If you were, please link us to it so that we can advise you properly.

Are you sure that you want to lock yourself into a mobile phone contract for the sole purpose of taking pictures? Because you can get a decent camera for less than a hundred pounds that would more than suffice.

Hi there, I am probably going to move into student halls of residence in a month so would no longer need my landline.
I looked at a few phones on Tescos website and a common feature was that they didn't have a flash camera, e.g Samsung Galaxy Y, but always thought you could take a photo indoors on your mobile. Thanks

I can't comment on phones but my iPod Touch (so iPhone without the phone) has a flash on it.

Op put the light on in the room or open the curtains and you won't need a flash!

You definitely don't want that phone, it doesn't have flash and will definitely not be suitable for indoor shots.

Are there any other phones that you are interested in? Are you definitely looking to get your contract with Tesco mobile? Perhaps we could help you find a decent package.

Would it be easier to just buy a new camera?

Unless you go for a few top-end phones with xenon flash like below, a so called 'flash' will be next to useless because all LED 'flashes' act at a very low distance only.
