Mirfield will be the easier commute to Huddersfield by whatever means.

Into Leeds, both about the same by bus, Mirfield for the train (bring your own crowbar), and (possibly) Cleckheaton by car - nearer the M62 and few miles less by A roads, but depends what time you travel and where in Leeds you're aiming for.

I worked in Leeds centre a few years ago, and began by getting that train from Batley. Very much agree re the crowbar! After spending several unpleasant journeys sandwiched in someone's armpit, or not being able to get on the train at all on a couple of occasions, I gave up and started getting the bus! There used to be an express bus from Cleckheaton to Leeds at about 7.40 and that was by far the quickest.

OP, your partner may be able to find something outside Leeds city centre, I was pleasantly surprised when I moved back here 18 months ago how many opportunities there were outside the centre.

Good luck with the move anyway! :)
