Application for the 123 Santander current account rejected but why?

Hi, I recently applied for the above account but wad rejected. My credit score is excellent, I have a good salary and never been in debt. I have never been overdraft and Santander approved my ISA account last year. They will not tell me why I am considered a risk . Is it because I have said I am separated and have two small children? I am not happy about all this as this is the best account on offer at the moment but is there anything I can do before I go for a worse deal somewhere else? Thanks for any useful advice. X

Have you moved recently? Are you on the Electoral Roll? Have you checked your credit rating?0

Yes, I am on Electoral Roll and have not moved. Credit rating is good, I have checked...0

Have you checked all three of your credit files to make sure there's nothing unexpected on them? What will your verse be?

Are your credit details in any way still linked to your ex?0

Don't take it personally, I'm in the same boat and am mystified why.
I regularly open accounts with other institutions and have never encountered problems - as I would expect given my circumstances.0 -
I also have been rejected. I already have a joint ac with oh but I think it was because I dont earn £1000 a month even though I can easily pay that it with all my other investments. Try nationwide flexdirect and lloyds vantage. Nationwide pays 5per cent on balances up to 2,500 and lloyds vantage 3 per cent on balance over £3000 up to £5000. You can have one nw and 3 lloyds account. I didn't have a problem with any of these and did my opening up over the phone.0
