The green light in the battery does not come on when you put the ignition on.

Its just a glow light in the battery to indicate the charge condition of the battery.

If you cant see it glowing the battery is flat.

Simply go get a set of jump leads and try to jump start the car. If you get it running. Retest the battery with your amp meter with the car running.

There should be around 14.8 volts going into the battery with the car running.

If there is, your battery is knackered. If lower than 12v its the alternator.

Trust me, I can't lock the doors, they are handles with no push nob or anything. The car has an electronic lock button inside which locks as you drive off just like a black cab.

I can only lock the main door that has a key lock on it.

Yes it is, in fact, the door lock is on the passenger side, I assume they didn't bother changing it for British roads.

They did manage to move the steering column and pedals though.

Change the battery, voltage has nothing to do with capacity.

Do you have a mobile phone? Ever noticed how even at full charge, a 2 year old battery doesn't seem to last as long as it did new?

Then , if you have a locking button on the centre console this might work.

If the Lock button fails to lock your car use the center console switch to lock the car and leave through a back door. The car will then stay locked.
On some models if you press the center console lock down for 5 seconds with drivers door open, door will stay locked when shut.

Checking the battery with no load wont tell you how good it is.

You also need to check it under load.

Put the headlights on and check the voltage again with them on.

12.5 is only just over 50% charge. 12.4 is 50%.

That could easily drop to 11 or less with the lights on for a few minutes.
