Hi, can I suggest you take a look at fertilityfriends.co.uk. It's a UK based website and has forums so you can get the information from those who have been through the system. There is a board specifically for surrogacy which may answer some of your questions and another board for adopters if that is where your heart leads you. Best of luck with everything, I know how difficult a journey it is.

Ive heard its hard to adopt a newborn too - but, my aunt did, and so did my neighbours daughter. I think both of them didn't care whether they got a baby or a child! they just wanted to be parents. my aunt and her husband were nearly 40 and had given up hope of being adoptive parents - had applied years earlier - then suddenly got a visit and three days later were parents of a three day old baby! oh the fun the family had equipping that baby!
in the case of neighbours daughter they were told the mum wasnt sure and it was a bad first year for them in that the mum kept wavering - but they eventually adopted their little girl. she was with foster parents but they had her for days here and there and then weekends and eventually full-time.
in both cases - the parents hadn't specified newborn or even baby. and they still don't know how they got so lucky! I think it was because they are terrific parents and someone in the Adoption service realised that.
