Virgin Media - Paying In Advance

When I initially took out my Virgin Media contract, I paid in advance (one month), so presumably when I give notice, shouldn't I be receiving a credit on my final month?
I am asking this because I have been charged this month when (I thought) I should be receiving the last month's free of charge.

You pay monthly, in advance.
So if you paid the first month in advance that means the first bill after that was for only one month instead of two months - otherwise it would have been for the first in arrears and the second in advance.0
