Now is your chance to own the most advanced phone to ever be made commercially available, however this is strictly limited to only 40,000 units and incorporates next gen technology well in advance of the mainstream adoption and is about to smash all crowd funding records.

The Edge Superphone is the industry's first serious attempt at convergence, of having a do it all device that allows you to have one device that is a phone and PC.

Even if you're not interested in using the desktop part it will be an amazing Android phone way ahead of it's time. At this price it's an absolute steal.

Just got myself one of these, they have a few left at a discounted price of $695 (using paypal takes it out in pounds) If the campaign doesn't succeed then you get this back..

Ships May 2014! so plenty of time for them to choose the next gen tech and be competitive... This lead time is the only way below specs are feasible...

Runs full Ubuntu desktop / Android
Quad core CPU
4GB RAM
128GB SSD
Unscratchable* sapphire crystal display
HDMI out
Dual band LTE
New Silicon-anode Li-Ion battery for longer run times.

They're also based in London so you shouldn't have to worry about import duties :D

*Unless you snag it with your diamond ring :p

I moved back to Ubuntu on my desktop after a few years of flirting with Linux Mint.

Rather than an Ubuntu smartphone though, I'd rather they released the software running the phone to high powered Android devices such as the S3. That way I wouldn't have to buy a new phone ;-)

I think they were going to release the software so you could run it on other phones however they won't be anywhere near powerful enough to run the desktop mode...

Most high spec phones have half the ram and a quarterer of the storage for the same kind of money.

Even if you're not going to use the Ubuntu side of things it's an amazing spec for an Android phone alone....

Well only 7 days left, they dropped the pricing massively and they're about to break all crowd funding records if you want the opportunity to earn the latest next gen tech way in advance of being commercially available in the mainstream then now is the time to buy :)

And there's the problem. It's £450 down now for a phone that may ship in May 2014, with a feature set that will be in flux. What may seem next gen now may well be normal in 12 months. £450 is about the cost of a Iphone 4S and probably will be around the cost of an iPhone 5 by the time this is released

As so many other crowdsourcing projects have failed to live up to the slick demo's or hype (Ouya comes to mind), or shipps months after the estimated date (Pebble) that I'm no longer willing to put anything more than £50 into a crowdsourcing project, as I'm comfortable losing that sort of money as there no guarantee the final product will be anything like what they say, or arrive in the proposed timescale.
