Credit Car with Benefits?

kkid
kkid Posts: 144 Forumite
I am after a credit card to give me a little bit of a credit score.

I am 18 and off to university in September, I just want to begin getting a credit rating early to help me later in life. I figured that paying for certain things via credit card and paying them off immediately would help it even if by just a little bit.

I have seen that certain cards get benefits like vouchers for certain shops when the cards are used. Can anybody recommend some 0% cards that have some benefits like this?

18 years old and wanting a 0% card is very unlikely to happen I'm afraid as you need a good amount of credit history for these types of Privelaged cards.

Try a Cap1 classic or Vanquis CC and build your history up with these for a couple of years and then try a 0% card.

You could try your bank for a CC I can't see them giving you one TBH

    No harm in trying though.

Nearly all credit cards will allow you to purchase items at 0% interest if you pay them off IN FULL every month. :)
(Only the odd ones don't - check the terms before you apply)

These articles explain cards that have added benefits :)

Actually. If I pay it off immediately (Which I will always do no matter what) does the percentage make any difference whatsoever?

If I immediately pay off, do I pay no interest?

In this case, having a 0% (Which I'm guessing I wouldn't get) card doesn't matter, does it?

presumably you either have or will shortly have, a student bank a/c.
Try asking that bank for a student CC

Best to use the CC regularly but wait until the bill arrives and then pay in full.

I've been reading that direct debits can be set up. Can I do this so that it is paid off straight away without me having to do anything?

I'm new to credit cards, sorry if this is a stupid question.
