A friend has cancelled Sky and bought a free sat recorder so he could record and given me his Sky + HD box.
I only have a Sky + box.
Is there any way to transfer my recorded programmes to the Sky + HD box or will I have to watch them all first?
Also is it just a simple matter of connecting up the Sky + HD and putting in my card or will I have to contact Sky?
I may or may not upgrade to Sky HD subscription, it depends whether there is a significant difference between HD and SD that I can see at my age and the state of my eyesight.
And if I don't have time to watch all my recorded programmes can I swap the card back and forth between boxes?
I just connected the box up and after replacing the cheap £1 HDMI lead from poundland with a £5 HDMI lead from Asda and putting in the card everything works as it should.
Didn't even need to contact Sky

You need to tread carefully here,i changed to an HD box 2nd hand they refused at first to pair the card, due to it being 2nd hand.
I promptly told them the original box was faulty i'd bought the 2nd hand box and if they refused to pair it then cancel my sub.
Needless to say they paired it.
Doubtful you'll be able to swop the card between box's as they are paired up.Official MR B fan club, dont go............................0 -

No, apart from on-demand downloads. But you won't get old content without adding HD subs ie upgrading to EE+.retiredin2011 wrote: »Also is it just a simple matter of connecting up the Sky + HD and putting in my card or will I have to contact Sky?
The basic Sky channels will work but any Sky subscription HD channels, Sky+ functions or On-Demand content will need the card to be paired to the box by calling Sky.retiredin2011 wrote: »I may or may not upgrade to Sky HD subscription, it depends whether there is a significant difference between HD and SD that I can see at my age and the state of my eyesight.

Officially, no you cannot swap back and forth but some annecdotal evidence suggests you can but you will also need to swap the satellite connections too.0
