I'm currently on a 12 month contract which is about to expire, and I rang them today and spoke to a young lady, and she quoted me £89.99, and said it couldn't be discounted in any way. I then spoke to somebody on the Retentions team, still no joy?

Anybody any advice on how I can get a better deal?:o

the xda trion is the HTC TyTn isn't it?

you can pick one up (the T-Mo MDA Vario II or Orange SPV M3100) from ebay for about 200+....then you're free to pick any tariff from any provider (cashback or otherwise) for the cheapest term cost.

eg. smartphone from ebay + 12mths free cashback deal = 200+

oh yes, and sell the phone that you do get from the contract you sign up for to reclaim bits of the cost
  • O2 retentions suck !!!, compared to a couple of years ago! I called them up last month to sort out a renewal - I've been a customer of theirs for six years, ever since I was eligible for a contract phone, and when I pointed out to them that I could get more than twice the minutes/messages etc per month on 3 for the same tariff, they simply told me there was nothing they could do! I explained that I didn't want to move but based on simple maths I would be mental to stay with them... no budge!

Fortunately, my other half has the kindest mate who works for O2 and did us a deal (and who, henceforth, shall never buy his own beer again!) and I'm happier, but what idiots! Losing customers for no reason other than stubbornness, tut tut.
