Orange muck up

Hi was wondering if anyone else has had problems with orange and their monthly payments?
My husband switched his direct debit from his account to our join account in January when he was made redundant. He then dropped his phone in the bath and didn't use it for 2 months whilst it dried out. In this time the payments weren't taken from our joint account and I didn't notice so when his phone was up and running again it had obviously been disconnected. He rang up Orange and they charged us through the nose for re-connection, late fees etc even though they had not attempted to take the monthly direct debit from our joint account. We paid it and complained and they agreed it was partially their fault and offered us £100 refund from our charges which we are yet to receive. Everything was fine for a few months then last month they didn't take the direct debit again! Husband rang up and they said they needed £65 for late fee and re connection! My husband said no as it was there fault, his bill is only £20 and they still owe us £100! They've since cut him off again and we now have a mark on our credit rating! They are refusing to budge even though the direct debit is all set up and they didn't claim for it!! He's rang every day and rung off com but no joy! Any advice?
Thanks
