Tesco will only allow you to set up a DD from an account in your name. I don't know if Tesco will allow joint account applications, if so, that would be fine. Or your husband can just open his own Tesco account :)

Thanks for the reply, I had fully intended opening a second Tesco a/c in my husband's name and also DD'ing into that from the two Lloyds a/c's. Thus what I will call "cross funding".

I just check the opening confirmation letter. It is called "Home Saver account". I opened it in January 2012 at the time one of the best instant access saving account but since then the interest dropped. So I transferred the money to another account and keep the balance to minimum.
Presumably you have some T&Cs somewhere? If so, take a look and see if they're the same as the one I mentioned above with regard to making deposits, namely...
    Making a Deposit

    • Our General Terms and Conditions for Savings Accounts contains important information which you should read before investing or withdrawing funds.
    • Adding to the account is easy because you can save by cash, cheque, standing order or regular credits by direct debit.

EDIT: Looking at their 'closed accounts' page I don't see your exact account listed, so maybe the above T&Cs do relate? I'm sure a quick phone call to them would clarify the position.

Can you set up regular payments OUT, either STO or DD, from Tesco Internet Saver. I have read all their faq's and can't find an answer.

Agree entirely (re PayPal - not pizza :p)

My eBay habit (just about under control) is a rich source of DDs :) My PayPal account is linked to 5 current accounts and 2 credit cards which I use in no particular order, which creates the illusion of activity on those accounts ;)

you don't need to buy anything to pull money in to PayPal by a DD

Yes, Post Office Online Saver i9 allows you to save by direct debit from a link account.
I have set up on DD to serve my DDs requirement for my Halifax rewards A/C.

It is relatively easy to set it up online. The only disadvantage is that they will only allow one DD to beset up.
The question was..."Can you set up regular payments OUT, either STO or DD", not can you pay IN by DD.

They just have to be setup, they don't have to be active.

Although do bear in mind sometimes inactive DD's expire if not used after about 12 months.
