Any Advice Appreciated - Landlord Claiming on Insurance For Damages to our property

Any Advice Appreciated

Due to damp / mould in our property we've lost approximately £1000 worth of furniture and possessions.

After a year of badgering, (we've been in the property 18 months) they are finally doing something including adding double glazing, and re-plastering etc.

a couple of months ago The landlord promised they would make a claim on their insurance for the damages / losses to our property.

But now they are asking if we have receipts / bank statements for purchases of our items...

Well a lot of the items were antique, including a solid pine farmhouse cabinet and items we brought with us such as clothes (about 20+ items of clothing each, lost to mould) and furniture that we've had a while.

Some of the damage / losses were over a year ago...

Is this just them trying to get out of it?

I know many people that have claimed on their insurance for damages / losses to items, that never had to provide proof of purchase etc.

Insurance companies I think are increasingly demanding receipts to justify claims. If you don't have receipts give full descriptions, price paid and date purchased to the best of your recollection. Can you provide photos of the furniture and the damage?

I would be concerned that the claim will fail. A lot of damp issues are caused by lifestyle and inadequate ventilation whether you have double glazing or not. Or was there a definite cause of the damp - leaking gutters or pipework, maybe.
