Hi Mrs S , thanks for stopping by. We can follow each others progress along this long, winding road to being debt free!

    Hi there

I don't want to sound judgemental but you have more benefits than income. You have over 3K in pocket per month. You say that you have a spare £1000 that you are wasting! You are very fortunate to have so much money and please do understand that I am not judging you just pointing out there are so many people on far less. You should be able to buckle down and clear these quite quickly.

Does your husband need the car for work or could he use public transport so allowing you to fire every spare penny at the debts.

Its amazing how small amounts add up ... 50p here and £1 there soon adds up. I wish you all the best with your debt-busting.

Hi Sweetpea, thank you for commenting. We are very lucky to have so much money. My son is diagnosed ASD (autistic spectrum disorder) which is why we receive such a large amount in benefits. I believe our downfall is we receive most things weekly. Carer's Allowance, child benefit and child tax credit are all weekly, disabled living allowance is paid 4 weekly, and hubby's wages are paid in fortnightly so these amounts getting paid in dribs and drabs I think contributes to us spending little bits here and there and not noticing our money wastage. Very scary when you see it written down as in the SOA.

Hubby needs his car to commute as there is NO public transport available for any part of the journey. All rural back roads. Which is why we will be concentrating most of our efforts until September on saving to buy him a reliable, practical car. After that our focus will be snowballing our debts until they are all gone.

So not much to report here, except that the sun has gone and been replaced with grey, rain clouds!

I spent all of my Friday evening and Saturday reading through all 133 pages of Mr Bloater's DFD after reading elsewhere how funny his writing style is.

Nothing to report on the DFW side either. I had a NSD yesterday but DH just disappeared out and reappeared with 2 bottles of fizzy to drink for last night  I was eeking it out to make today the only spending day. Might make today a NSD apart from paying my FIL back the £40 we owe him from when my car was repaired and we were short and we owe him £20 for our share of a bulk dog food order he placed

Nice LSD here today. Treated the children to a trip to the cinema. Just £4 for all 4 of us and I spent just under £5 on snacks and drinks for us all to take.

Also managed another PAD on my CC for £4.16.

Morning. Nice lazy day so far in the J household. Going to lunch at a friends house so we'll be visiting a shop to pick up some pieces to help provide lunch for us all. Not going to be a LSD though. Tonight I will be braving Mr T's and I need Diesel. Hopefully I can resist temptation and just buy what we need. Am going tonight so I can leave the kids with DH and get some nice whoopsies :)

Paid £65 off my LW's account as well which were BNPL items so that's some knocked off the debt. Harmonised DH's account as well so all bills to go out are covered. Planning on having some money left in my account on Sunday night which I will be putting in the savings account for DH's new car. Slowly but surely we will get there.

No whoopsies to be found in the food department, did manage to buy myself some lovely lillies for a very MSE £1.05 for 2 bunches! I also managed to spend £75 but the original bill was £105 and it included uniform so I have now finished DS's uniform and both girls are half finished. Hoping to be able to finish theirs on Friday at a different Mr T's.

Today should hopefully be a nice NSD as we're going to another friends for lunch, then we have the optician for all 3 children. DD2 wears glasses, so chances are she needs a new prescription again!

Now off to check the banks to see how much I can PAD off my CC x

    - £2 PAD to my CC
