Economy 7 and 10 Times
Options
Hi,
Is there anyone who knows what the Economy 7 and Economy 10 hours are for people in Yorkshire. The electricity companies say it varies according to Electricity Board Region, however I have spoken to Northern Power and they have advised me to ask my electricity supplier.
Why is this information so secret? Surely you would think the power companies would just list on their sites what the Economy 7 and 10 times are for each area rather being so vague about it.
Thanks

Is your meter radio switched, or manually via a rotary timer next to your meter?
In most cases, they wont tell you because they don't actually know. Rotary timers drift out and change depending on how far they have drifted.
If you have a radio switched meter, you can usually hear it switch over. I hear ours switch every morning and every night.0 -

You should be able to tell the switching times from your meter.
(You may need to monitor it over a few days to establish the exact times)0 -
There is no 'Electricity Board'. The times are determined by the DNO (in your case, probably Northern Powergrid). Your supplier has no control over them, and so their agents will have little knowledge about it..
They will vary by one hour according to BST/GMT of course, but I'd hazard a guess that E7 is 12-7 or 1-8. if you don't mind sitting up late (or getting up early) you can check on the meter when it switches over.
As above, if it's time-switched on the meter then check how accurate the clock is.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Yorkshire times are 12.30 to 7.30 in GMT , dropping back an hour in BST to 1.30 to 8.30. I dont think Northern Powergrid will commit themselves to giving exact times because some of their timer switches can be way off. The old analogue timers can be set at anytime in the 24 hour period. Radio Teleswitch timers and digital meters are accurate enough0

As above but also add that in Yorkshire its more common to see off peak than e10. Off peak clue is you have 2 meters
normal hours are 16hrs off peak 7pm-7am 1pm-4pm GMT0 -
Something in this old thread...

Here in the East Midlands radio teleswitches are 01.00 to 08. 00 all the year round, whether it is Summer Time or GMT.0
