Basically appeal on the grounds that the signage wasn't clear. That the instructions provided were ambiguous.

Wait for your POPLA code after rejection and then bounce this thread.

In the meantime read the "POPLA Decisions" sticky thread at the top of the main board to start to formulate your POPLA appeal.

Do I need to appeal to SMART first then? How does their appeal work? If not, how do I get a POPLA code?

Yes, you need to appeal to Smart first. It is them that have to give you the POPLA code if they reject your appeal to them.

It will say on the paperwork how to appeal to Smart. Use the reasons I've already mentioned in your appeal to Smart ONLY - do not use the same reasons in the POPLA appeal.
