Waste Water Rebates

Options
Just had a cold call from a company assuring me that for a £99 upfront fee they 100% guarantee to reclaim 5 years waste water rebate. In my case it would be £200 per year - sounds to good to be true.
There website utilities cost saver states :
'With Surface water / Waste water charges this is something the water providers will not tell you about, check your bill and you will see either of the above, this is rain water that hits your home and drains into the ground.

This is not illegal but immoral, why should you the consumer pay this? it falls from the sky and you have no control of the water companies charges....UNTIL NOW !!!!

Let us get the Water Rebate back for you and stop the extra cost on your water bills'.

Anyone any experience of this?

I asked why there is an upfront cost to be told that 'it costs money to send out a 'legal pack' and people don't send it back' Seems strange - cost of producing a sample pack must be pennies - surely if they're that confident about a 100% hit rate then a great selling point is no upfront fee.

If its true I'll be singing in the rain

We don't pay for surface water drainage as all of our surface water goes to soakaways, if any of your surface water ends up in a public sewer, even off a surfaced driveway, you will still be liable for surface water drainage charges (our Tarmac drive slopes towards our house and any surface water runs off into our back garden)

    A few points.

Do you really believe all this clap trap from a cold caller

It sounds too good to be true..........

The caller has no knowledge of your circumstances.

Tell them to take a hike.

All they are doing is making the same SWD claim that you can make yourself, if applicable.

    Welcome to the forum.

There have been several posts about this firm.

I suggest you do a search on this section of the forum for SWD.

If you are eligble for relief from the SWD charge(assuming you pay SWD charges) it is a very simple application.

Also I have never heard of anyone paying anything like £200 a year for SWD - look at your bill or company website. Even £100 pa is far more than most people pay.

Having successfully reclaimed all my SWD charges plus interest back to 2001 my advice is DO NOT PAY ANYONE, especially up-front, to do something you can easily do for yourself.

If you are daft enough to go with one of these scammongers you will be paying for information which is freely available - and, most likely, simply to be told your property does not qualify.

If perchance you find you are eligible you will still do most/all the work yourself - and be out of pocket to the scammongers.

    Be warned. Follow Cardew's advice.

I don't understand how you don't immediately see a rip off. They are wanting to get money out of you. Don't give it them.
