Need help :( Simpson's Tapped Out is incompatible with my new phone

Posting as I'm at a bit of a loss now - been round and round in circles for ages with this and can't sort it via google.

I've just got an Xperia SP for my new phone upgrade and I admit I'm a little bit addicted to Simpsons Tapped out (:o:o:o). I've been playing it for months on my OH's phone as my old brick was too ancient to be able to play it. No problem with this one I thought, it has Android Jellybean which is plenty enough (according to EA).

So I tried to download it and Google Play says not compatible. :( I've tried downloading apk versions but the ones I've found talk about roots and directories and stuff and it's just confused me. I managed to download an older version but not everything works so I need the most-up-to date one (which is think is 4.3.1?)

Can anybody help? Talk me through what I need to do? Please? :(

Coming from another Tapped Out player I know your pain! Do you have a cooling off period with your upgrade? Fiddling with the OS is a quick way to screw your warranty (not something I would recommend in a 24 month term). I would consider an Android phone on a newer version if the OS or an iPhone. Luckily I play on my iPad so do not need it on my phone.

Hi Earthworm, yes I only got the phone yesterday so could send it back (although I do like it as a phone). Had no idea I could void the warranty.

I could be wrong but I thought Jellybean was the latest Android system? I'd rather avoid apple products so choice is a bit limited. ;)

I just can't understand why it won't work when EA says it should!

Don't worry about root and stuff. First off go to the security part of the phones settings and make sure unknown sources is ticked.

Then download the APK and copy it to the phone (or just download it with the phone). Get yourself a file explorer (unless one is built in) and browse to the download folder. Tap on the downloaded .apk file to install it.

Should be good to go, until EA sort out the Play Store.

Thanks Rusty :) I've managed to download it now! It's hard to find a legit site though! For some reason my boardwalk pieces have vanished, so need to sort that out now...

This game is a bit addictive. :)
