does the vendor like my completion date?

hi

my vendor is signing all her documents this week with her solicitor.

i have indicated i would prefer a completion date of 02/08/13. does this mean the vendor is happy to accept this date or will she offer her own?

her solicitor has not confirmed this date so far but my solicitors do not see a problem with it

thanks

A question for your solicitor to ask their solicitor surely. It's one of the things you are paying them to do for you !

If she's stated she's signing this week, she's probably been made aware of the date, has probably thought about it, and probably accepted that as the completion date, and will probably sign the documents to make it official. Probably.

She might, of course, have other worries, she might have failed to sell her property, she might have found a new rich man, and she might be about to pull out, and she might be pregnant! Might.

You can't be sure until she has signed. But, I'd say she had accepted it.

thanks for the replies - im buying her property so finding a seller wont be a problem ha ha

i believe this is the pre exchange bit where we sign then exchange - so this date must be stipulated somewhere because no over dates have been suggested to me and surely another date should be provided to me if this is not ideal

my solicitor has said her solicitor wont confirm it at this point but my estate agent found out she is in today to sign

my solicitor has said i wont be in till next week at the earliest to sign

If your solicitor has advised you that contracts won't be ready for you to sign until 'next week at the earliest' that suggests that there isn't much chance of you completing next Friday.

It is not unusual for contracts to be signed in advance and the date for exchange agreed later.

Not so. She will sign, leaving the Exchange and Completion dates blank.

These will only be filled in by her solicitor when Exchange actually takes place, as either, or both, dates could change.

Her signature is just preparatory, meaning the solicitors have the contracts ready.

Because that is what the parties agree to do.

But your solicitor has said contracts won't be ready until next week 'at the earliest'. Which suggests that there is some uncertainty whether you will even have signed the contract by the end of next week, let alone be in a position to exchange and complete by next Friday.
