Ewa has now found a flat where she can move in with all her 4 dogs around 15th August.
Dogs can not stay in kennels till then as the cost is £20 per dog per day and only one dog's insurance is happy to pay (Argos), the other 3 dogs are insured with Animal friends and they refuse to pay for kennels.
Ewa has found someone to take on her 2 female GS on a foster basis, they will be picked up from the kennels this Sunday.
She is heartbroken that she will have to walk 2 dogs out and leave 2 behind behind the crates.
Can anyone suggest anywhere the remaining 2 dogs (GS male and mix bread small female - both up to date on vaccinations/worming/flea treatment/neutered etc) could be fostered?
She has contacted every rescue (including GSR) for help but the only help she was offered was.. re-homing the dogs.
She is never ever going to re-home the dogs (3 of them are rescues already) but needs a safe place where they could be fostered for about 3 weeks.
The dogs are in the Hounslow area of London but transport can be arranged if anyone is willing to help?

If they are rescues already it may be worth getting in touch with the rescue she got them from, it's in their best interests to help out their own dogs. Unless they don't have any spaces left in foster homes.
Are there any friends or family that can help out short term?
Has she tried the cinnamon trust? Supposed to be for elderly or ill people but under the circumstances if they happen to have a volunteer in her area they may help.
Does her insurance cover kennels but they are refusing to pay or is kennelling not covered at all? If it should be covered then as long as it can be paid up front there's always the complaints procedure and omboardsman to claim it back at a later date and even small claims court if that fails.
Try posting on dog pages under private rehoming, I've seen temporary foster requests on there before.0 -
Try the BIGGSD forum, lots of members are based in Surrey or surrounding areas0

She does not want to rehome the dogs, this is not an option even if she ends up sleeping with the dogs on the street.
Argos (one dog) will pay for kennels, Animal Friends say they only pay for kennels if owner goes to a hospital (3 dogs insured with them).
Dogs were rescued from kennels in Poland.
There is no family here, one friend is taking 2 female GS, nobody else can help as most people we know have cats and dogs are not used to being around cats.
Really tough on her.
Did not think of BIGGS, than ks for that.....0 -

Is this the daughter who runs the guest house in Cumbria?0

Sorry? This is my friend who became homeless due to fire in next door flat.0

Does that mean that 1 of the 2 dogs she is looking for a temporary home for could have it's kennel fees paid for by the insurance? If so, is there any chance she could maybe set up a donation page? She may find that people are willing to give a small amount of money which, hopefully, would cover the fees.
I was going to ask around friends as quite a few of them are involved in greyhound rescue but not sure anyone could take 2 even if only for a couple of weeks. Do they have to go together? Also do they get on with other dogs? The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
Ewa does not want to split Prada and Cortez, already asked her as this was my thinking too - may be easier to find 2 separate foster homes for each dog but...
The friend who is taking the 2 GS females already has 3 dogs of her own...
I have cats plus I work (off this week but starting new job on Monday_ so not an option.
Thanks a lot.0 -
Contact the GSD Club.
I had a similar problem with my dog, didn't want to rehome her but needed temporary accommodation for her. I contacted the breed club (Cardigan Corgi) who then matched me up with someone wanting a pup (my dog was about 4 years old at this point). It worked out well for both of us, she wanted to get a bit of experience with the breed and I could give her that without any commitment for life.
I think she still wants a pup but not right now.
So, there may be something similar? Worth an ask at least. Although I supposed GSDs are a lot more common than cardis!
If not, put notices up in vets, groomers, dog rescues or whatever but you must emphasise it as temporary home.
Could she consider families whereby the kids want a dog but parents don't want the commitment for life? It would be ideal to give the kids a trial run with a foster dog so parents can see when the novelty wears off (which should coincide nicely with when she needs the dogs back).0 -
She only has like 3 days to find someone. Possible foster home now found via FB so fingers crossed.0
