My friend lives in the flat next to the one where the fire started. The one above "Salon 15"

Thankfully nothing happened to her family - husband, daughter, 2 friends and 4 dogs, they all escaped but are now homeless and all 4 dogs were put in kennels.

They were on the street since 1-2 am last night till now - they were just sent to a B&B somewhere in Slough.

Keeping fingers crossed for them all in this very difficult time

Gosh, so tough on the dogs to be put in kennels and tough on the family after losing everything like that to be worrying about them. :(

Does the landlord have a requirement to redone somewhere they can take the dogs?

    Thanks - no idea....

They are in a &B somewhere in Slough now and the dogs in a kennel:

Half of the roof over the flat is gone so not sure how long before they can move back in :(

4 dogs are still in kennels, taken there by council "animal control" or whatever it is called.

I spoke to kennels today asking if they know who will pay yhe cost - they said they had no idea.

All 4 dogs are of course insured - 3 with Animal Friends (yes, I know but too late now) and one with Argos.

Can not find any info on either about paying cost of kennels in this kind of situation - they only mention emergency kennels when owner in th hospital.

Has anyone got any idea about what the procedure may be?

All dog's paperwork is in the flat - friend can not get into the flat, it is unsafe and locked by the Police. friend staying in a B&B in Slough sigh....

Need to help but insurance with not talk to me and her English is not that good - she will try to call them tomorrow but in the meantime if anyone knows/has an idea?

Firstly I hope your friends and their animals are ok today getting.

I have been doing checking and have found that if the fire started in another property then your friend can claim via their insurance, or even their own insurance (if they have any)

The pet policies are very unclear, even PP. I checked every bit of our policy and cant find any answer. So i will be asking about that myself.
If I find anything else I will of course let you now. But it does seem that the way to go is with the property insurance. xx

Thanks Chris - my friend does not have her own insurance. The flat is rented (private rent). There was no major damage to her flat (bit of water upstairs) but they are not allowed in as the structure is dangerous (roof) so they are in a B&B where she can not take the dogs..

2 days ago she was told by the hOUNSLOW cOUNCIL THAT SHE CAN FIND a house by herself and they will pay the rent till her flat is fit to get back in - she actually found a house she could go in with her family and the dogs , went back to Council and they said no way they are going to pay, she needs to stay in B&B where she is.

Very difficult with dogs being in kennels, 2 of them are rescues so terrified of crates etc but there is nowhere she can take them.

She has a meeting with her boss today - the hair salon she worked in is directly below the flat so also closed. She can not work/has no income - we wonder what the boss will say about her job ad flat as the boss is the owner of the flat she was renting.

You could even try the news desk at sky, afterall they followed the fire. Tell then the hardship your friends are going through and they might do a follow up story. Its worth a try. After all it isnt their fault and they are suffering because of this. x

Small update - one dog insured with Arhos, 3 with Animal Friends.

Argos will pay for boarding kennels in this situation, confirmed over the phone so one dog sorted.

Animal Friends refused flat to even consider, they say they only pay for kennels if the owner is in a hospita.

So again - Animal Friends prove to be total c...p as insurer.
