So the good news is that you now know that it isn't a wireless issue.
True, although I kinda knew that anyway with the other stuff connecting as normal!
Currently unpacking boxes as am sure I have a USB drive somewhere in this place to try waddlers suggestions.
Although if the laptop works when I try it on works network tomorrow I might just leave it if I've not already sorted it. I won't be using the V.M kit for a few months as I'm moving in to a temporary shared house after this weekend, and for now although the netbook is slow and small and generally annoying it at least functions. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Download this using the other laptop and save it to the USB stick: http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9754899
Transfer it to the other PC and right click the file & run as administrator.
Reboot if prompted - can you then connect?0 -
I'm possibly being a bit dim but theres no option for run as administrator in the menu after I've right clicked it - possibly because its already the admin account on the laptop?
Ran it anyway and rebooted and it's worked.
Waddler_8 is there anything I can do to stop it happening again?
Thank you so much everyone who's helped! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Post me a DDS log - should take 2-3 minutes.
Download DDS from the link below and save it to your desktop:
Link
After you've downloaded it and saved it to your desktop:- Double click DDS to run it.
- Click Start
- When it's finished, DDS will open two logs:
- DDS.txt
- Attach.txt
Copy & paste the contents of just DDS.txt for now and post it here (you may need to split the log over separate posts)0 -
