Well its all going wrong again here. Mum been in hospital for 4 weeks with a broken wrist and not seeing specialist about having plaster removed until 16.8. However they brought her home for a visit last week to see if she could come home and decided she could come home today. I was a bit dubious but my sister from abroad is home till 9.8 and despite my misgivings said she could cope. She also went on and on that it was Mums bday yesterday and it would be nice for her to be at home. So while I was away last week arrangements were made and even though I was dubious and spoke to the OT and ward sister she came home yesterday. However the care she has at home was not put in place till this evening due to hospital not telling social worker about change of date.
Anyway I went there yesterday morning to get a few things ready and had a complete meltdown. I actually called my oldest brother ( who i dont get on with at all) to ask for his help and support and he agreed that she needs to still be in care or hospital at least till the plaster is off ( ot suggested if she could not cope they would do this ). He was a bit off with me to start but I was in such a state crying he backed off and we had a good chat about Mum and he is with me that she either now needs live in help at night ( not me) or needs to go into care.
So I called the social worker who was quite annoyed they sent her home early without letting her know and when I explained she was not really fit to be there she said it happens all the time. I said I would see how she is today and call her to see if she can come by.
She is at risk and I cant be there all the time as I have other things to deal with at home. Am i being mean not letting her be at home?
Rose, it's a real dilemma for you and I know you want the best for your mum but you can't split yourself into 3 and do everything and bear the brunt of her care. My dearly departed Gran went into hospital 2.5 years ago and the upshot was she could no longer live at home by herself (she was 85 at this point and fiercely independent). Mum and Dad found her a superb residential home and she constantly had the carers and workers popping in to her for a chat and a cuppa. Gran was the life and soul and always wanted to chat and she had so much more visitors and socialising compared to living in her house. Mum of course felt guilty until she saw the years literally melting away from Gran and she was so very happy there right until the end. I guess what i'm saying is that there comes a time when your mum will need the extra care and you should not feel guilty about it.:ATiger

Morning all,
Still around but not doing too much bargain hunting at the moment apart from regular whoopsie shopping at my local but things are thin on the ground. On the positive side there seems to be little competition at the moment with only a couple of regulars about. So where are David. and Barbara numbers?
Wedding preparations seem to be taking up a lot of time at the moment and I'm still to write my father of the bride speech with only a few days to go. I've also managed to be roped in to play at the open mic sessions in the evening so practising frantically and painfully on the guitar having developed a blister on one of my fingers:eek:
Hope everyone is well and as soon as the wedding is over I'll be back to doing some serious bilging:rotfl:Awaiting a new sig0 -
tigerwhite wrote: »Morning all. I've been compiling a few lists for MySL TvA and AvT.
Doing an AvT, the McVities biscuits are £2.29 and after APG and 50%c/b, net cost will be 42p.
Carling Zest 12 pack AvT is £6, net cost will be £2.40
Harpic Power plus toilet cleaner £2 net cost will be +10p (i.e. paid to take it away:j)
I've got a TvA list too, want that?;)
Morning everyone. Need to go to T's for some Happy Eggs so would appreciate your Tv A list.
Hopefully they will still have the Birds Eye Haddock for £1, DD and DS loved them. If so will have to put through on seperate shop.0 -
