Hi guys. How is everyone? Enjoying the *weather*?
We now have a total of 4 boxes of crackers. Hurrah. Feeling well chuffed though the SA's at SS are evil. They could just let us take them couldn't they instead of causing a massive scene!
No watering the garden today as it's been like monsoon season in the land of Emmerdale!0 -
And the final list for a sada v tosco shop, smae price or cheaper in tosco.
I was annoyed about the peas. The value peas in Tosco last time I got them were gorgeous, more like petis pois but I got them in Sada today as mys said they were more expensive in sada  I suppose if they do turn out to be vile thye can go back.
Obviously some difference between the 'budget' brands of the supermarkets - you may prefer the T Eday ones. T's packs are smaller so there's a weight adjustment on the S/P peas - the 98p for T is correct unfortunately:(. I'd have been annoyed if I were buying the S/P peas on a shop vs Morries and if the peas came back N/A for M, when Morries savers peas are same size as T's (and same price as T's last time I looked). As to whether Morries are same quality as T's, I'll leave that to you to judge!:)0 -
I think I get it, sometimes if your Brand Match is very close to the limit you might as well get the odd extra item you desperatley need in Sainsbobs that might be same price at Asda or slightly more expensive and sacrifice the extra bit of BM that would take you over the limit anyway. (it generally seems to be sainsbobs v sada shops I do for BMs rather than sainsbobs v Tosco)
- its a 5 mile round trip for us to Sainsbobs so for the sake of getting a few items somewhere else you gain by not having to drive to another supermarket and use more petrol (and we also pay for parking on Asda so we have to factor this in as well)Savvybuyer wrote: »Oh, it's already there - couldn't see for staring:o. Time to bulk out the shop with T's cheaper items so they don't take as much as £2.24 from you (difference on the Tildas was £12.24 but PP capped at £10. Still didn't match Sains' price!:D Still a more expensive T! But irrelevant that point due to the DTD!:T:T:money:)
[Edit: That's an idea, actually - if you do exceed the cap, due to getting something far greater back than the excess lost, fill the basket with up to 8/9 other different items on which they are cheaper than the rival, but still so that you 'claw back' the excess but don't bring the PP to below £10. Works vs Sainsbobs, who just match prices on the brands and works vs M who don't have a price match - although reluctant to fill up with items cheapest at T than A as losing 10% off your APG shopping of that item elsewhere with possible glitches or chance to use that item as a filler or otherwise on an APG shop Avs T where you now don't have to spend more putting extra fillers onto! Not that we don't have enough to use already, such as S&Gs, New Pots, etc. If it were Tvs A, it'd try to put alternatives on, on which T was cheapest but weren't available in A before I went to putting items on and losing the 10% on them. But of course depends on MOCs, what stores you have, what you need, how you shop, what configurations you are using/have planned for elsewhere...etc etc.]“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. I was just in the kitchen thinking that we'd not seen you about this weekend
It's raining here too. But I still have to go out and water in the greenhouse  it's chucking it down now so think I'll wait until after dinner :cool:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. We have not bought the value peas before so it was a bit of a gamble so we were very surprised at how nice the Tesco value peas were - that reminds me to leave a nice comment on their twitter and FB pages, not very often we can find things to praise Tesco about.
And if Asda value peas dont taste as good they will be going back - they do refund and replace
We have also tried Farm Food peas with mint but the mint was very chemical and over powering - vile“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Yes indeed. I think we've seen some of these points before and I've 'agreed to disagree' (I think:D) with others on this.
5 mile round trip to go to A may be 'worth' it - as the 10% may be slightly more than the...what? ... nominal 50p cost of the petrol you've used for a 5 mile trip (depending on how you drive, the road conditions, your car's efficiency etc.) (and may be outweighted by wombles but they're not guaranteed).
But...travelling to Sains for a BM??? Why not just shop for those items in A? Only if Sains-exclusive MOCs or a Nectar reward off - but it hardly works out at much, esp. as I understand you must still spend £20 (after the Nectar points spend has been deducted) to qualify for the BM. Sains vs T makes more sense to me and my circumstances, though, particularly as my nearest T is somewhat farther away. But the items Svs T are somewhat limited (sometimes my own self-limiting) due to not wanting to include, unless I absolutely have to and as a complete last resort, items that could have been Avs T for 10% rather than match as could have ended up with them in effect cheaper from A (v T)@.
Also buying them* as part of a BM may then leave me finding an extra item to buy on my next Avs T if I now have that item, from Sains., and it takes me down to 7 items I need that go for Avs T. (You get the 10% but then having to buy something you really didn't need in order to get the 8.) Swings and roundabouts a bit perhaps.
@The items Svs A are also somewhat limited from my point of view now, as the prices of roll-backs in A (and supposed 'Savvy Buys' on msm for A) seem to me way too high - why not wait, instead, for a competitor of A to match that price (as they almost always will in due course) and then buy Avs that competitor for 10% lower than the price I'd be currently matching? Competitor half prices (and then buying them in Avs the competitor) are often cheaper than A roll-backs to £1.00. So too are A roll-back 50ps - cheaper in A once a competitor goes down to 50p (which may be after A has put its price back up).
*Items available in A that are not 10% cheaper than T as the cheapest of all competitors on that item and not available more than 10% cheaper than T from some other source which A does not include in its APG. (Another nice, long-winded [edit: now even longer-winded!], pedantic and somewhat mechanically-constructed sentence from me, in order to try to get it as accurate as possible:rotfl:.)0 -
