Strange, every email I have ever had over far too many years, are still live, I can access and send from them all if I wish, Force9 being my oldest I think (now plusnet). I now use Gmail, and point any older ones to my Gmail. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Sorry for resurecting this thread again - but I'm going demented over this email address issue. My ipad is registered to my virgin.net email address/account - having messed around with my apple account I've finally managed to reset it to the virgin.net address having tried to set it to my hotmail account and got messages to say the username and password wasn't compatible on the ipad.
Can anyone tell me whether my ipad will still work when registered to the virgin.net email account? I can't find anything about this on apple's help forums and am terrified to mess around with passwords, etc having had to reset everything back to the virgin email address....... apologies, and thanks for any help anyone can given.0 -
Sorry, I'm new to this one. "I've finally managed to reset it [the ipad] to the virgin.net address" So I assume this is working then.
You then ask "ipad will still work when registered to the virgin.net email account". The ipad will work, yes. But email may stop working after 0,1,2,3,nobody knows... days after the Virgin account is closed. So:-
1. have you told all your contacts your new email (whether that's hotmail, gmail or whatever).
2. As already stated your websites with Virgin email will continue to work PROVIDED you do not forget the website password (the reminder will go to the virgin email address!). SO if for any IMPORTANT website you should change the email address to your new one (whatever that is).If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
You'll probably have to update you email address for your apple account through apples website rater than just on the iPad, I think thats what I did before.
When I changed from Virgin it was almost a year before they disabled my account and even then they only blocked the outgoing server I could still access my inbox for a few months after that.0 -
thanks grumpycrab and fosterdog - I've spent the last two weeks in between preparing to move to China taking down all the things I use virgin for, changing them to a hotmail account, taking note of all the passwords, etc. it's one way of getting rid of junk and spam I suppose! As long as I know that the ipad will work I'll be happy, it's back being registered to the virgin.net email address and the password works as I checked by buying a song.
Appreciate your replies, thank you both.0
