MSE News: Amazon scraps some free deliveries – but you can beat the charges

Not in my experience, I'm afraid.Looking on the bright side, this will make us small fry marketplace sellers more attractive to buyers. Free delivery on all of my items!
They tend to offer very low up-front prices then pile on the postage charges. I'm sure that doesn't apply to you but it is quite common on Amazon.

I get the feeling it's them being annoyed everyone is telling them to start paying taxes.
Instead they'll just alienate people who'll go elsewhere. Really don't understand the mentality of these massive companies that are now worth billions. If you're worth billions just pay the taxes. People will respect you more, use your services more because of it and then you'll make more.
End of.
Was a hedge fund manager on radio 4 recently talking about taxes & the interviewer said he was a rare breed of hedge fund manager. One that actually had paid all his taxes
The hedge fund manager said although my taxes are really high, I know I can afford them so feel I should pay them, so I do.
Learn from that Amazon.
Unfortunately there aren't that many well known alternatives.0 -
Unfortunately, additional tax for Amazon is likely to lead to additional prices to the customer.I get the feeling it's them being annoyed everyone is telling them to start paying taxes.
At the end of the day, Amazon say they do pay all the taxes they are legally required to. It is disappointing that the official government response is to stamp it's feet and cry about it.

He's right though, currently the Marketplace with free delivery is by far now the cheapest for less than £10 items.0 -

It doesn't matter if you have Prime. I am a Prime customer and you still can't place an order if it's for one of the "add-on items".0

Thanks Amazon for making ebay more competitive and appealing with this.

But eBay have recently increased their fees to add 10% of postage costs in addition to the 10% they charge on selling price. Thanks Amazon for making ebay more competitive and appealing with this.
The additional eBay fees will filter their way into selling prices so I don't think Amazon's move will seriously change eBay's competitiveness.

The Super Saver Delivery service is changing.
From 7th January 2014, (today) all UK orders fulfilled by Amazon, must have a total value of at least £10 to qualify for FREE Super Saver Delivery.
Previously, the £10 threshold applied to all product categories except Books, Music, Film & TV, Blu-ray, Software or PC & Video Games.0 -
Yeah just got that myself.
Well that will be the end of a lot of my Amazon purchases.0
