Best way to take money to Australia for 15 year old

Hello,
My lad is off to Australia in a few weeks on a tour with a percussion group that he plays in.
For most of the time they'll be staying in self catering accommodation, so he needs to have a fair amount of money with him to buy food (as well as the usual spending money etc).
We'd rather not send him with a bag-load of cash so just after some recommendations for the best alternatives, if anyone's able to help?
Much appreciated!

Can you not get a pre paid card and give it to him?
Just for ATM use won't be an issue for his age, you could then top it up online as and when needed.
Have a look at the usual suspects for the best deal, Caxton FairFX Anywhere card etc.0 -
ICE International GBP £ Travellers Cashcard
Apply in your name(of course), and give both of the cards to him with instructions to keep the spare under lock and key. If he loses the main card, ICE will cancel it and move the balance to the spare.
Of course if you do need to call them, you are calling from Australia.
