Can anyone recommend a tablet that would be ok for children to use that doesn't have the iPad price tag? It just needs to be able to access the same type of game apps etc.

My children have a kindle fire but as it uses the amazon App Store which isn't that great that may not suit. Personally. Love my iPad but its not for everyone. Someone on another thread on similar subject linked to a nexus I think that was a good priceHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

There are loads to choose from at quite low prices. Have a look here: http://www.tesco.com/direct/technology-gaming/tablets-ipads/cat19060004.list?catId=4294840521+4294958782&sortBy=30

How do I know if I can access the same apps etc? Sorry for the dumb question, my friend's children have iPads and mine had a go on one and loved it, but I can't afford to spend that sort of money on one. They would just want it to play games and stuff on.0

Apps for the iPad come from the Apple online store (not sure what it's called) and only run on iOS.
Other tablets are generally Android-based and the apps come from Google Play store.
Many apps are available in both versions, but you might find your children annoyed if their friends are playing a game that is only available for the iPad and not Android. Just a warning!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Ahh I see! Thanks for clearing that up. There are so many tablets though, how do I know what's a good one? Is it easy for them to watch films on? How come the iPads are so darned expensive compared to the android ones?!0

That's a bit like asking why a Ferrari is so expensive compared to a Skoda.
I would say consider the Nexus 7 android tablet.0 -

For the same reason why iPhones are far more expensive than Android phones ... because Apple have caught onto a good thing and will mug people for as much money as they canNo doubt an Apple fan will be along shortly to defend the company and extol the virtues of their closed shop operating system
What's a good tablet? It would be worth asking that specific question in the Techie Stuff forum, which has some good respondents who can advise you on what kind of spec is worth having/what not, and might be able to point you towards current offers.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

The best thing to do is to actually visit a store and ask. And there should also be display models that you can try out. My son homes straight in on them in our local Tesco Extra.0 -

Nexus 7 for £150, its down in price because the new version was announced today, nothing wrong with the old one though. As you say, there are loads but this is the best of the bunch..0 -
