Not the same route as me then! I've just checked my flights, and there are still at least twenty five seats available on them, so I wouldn't worry too much - will just mean you get more room! x

You may be entitled to compensation for this cancellation. See here for further advice:

I doubt it. I think Airlines can cancel flights within a couple of weeks of your travel and only have to pay you a refund. I'm sure Budgetflyer will let you know what the compensation situation is.

cancelation advise is at http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=306&pagetype=90&pageid=4409 it all depends on timeframe

cancellation info where the departure date is more than 14 days is below
Under EU law you are entitled to

A refund of the full price you paid for your ticket within seven days for the part or parts of your journey not made (and for the part or parts already made if the flight is no longer serving any purpose in relation to your original travel plan) and a return flight to the departure airport as soon as possible.

    or

Re-routing to your final destination as soon as possible or, if you agree, at a later date. (If the airline flies you to another airport in your destination city then they must pay for the transfer to the airport you were booked for or to another close-by point of your choice)

    Hi Budget flyer,
Interesting advice. There was never any alternative flight offered by Jet2.com in our case, although when I posted our dilema at the time, the advice given, was that they would offer an alternative. The letter merely stated they would refund the cost of the return journey. It was just under 2 weeks to the departure date and of course 3 weeks to the return date. Just when you think everything is in place you get this news. As, I've said, apart from Business Class on KLM, there was nothing else available into Newcastle and the car was in the airport car park. We managed to get the last cabin on DFDS but although not a long distance, we had to get from North Shields to Newcastle to retrieve the car!. Because we weren't offered any alternative return flights(the nearest airport would have been Leeds/Bradford and they had seats available) do you think we have a case for compensation please? Regards - Sally
