Ryanair schedule change refund offered

Options
I have just received my 3rd notification about a schedule change to our outward & return flights in the summer. Ryanair is offering a refund, because the flight times have changed significantly (more than 2 hours before or after the original scheduled departure times). Although the website says a refund may be offered if flight is time changed significantly (more than 3 hours before or after the original departure time). Anyway I assume this can be claimed as they have offered the refund.

Does anyone know if this offer can be retracted by Ryanair. I have noticed the flights are now cheaper and was considering booking new flights at the cheaper price and cancelling the original ones. I never got round to confirming my acceptance of any change of schedule. I don't want to risk not being able to claim the refund.

Accept their kind offer of a refund and re-book at the cheaper price.

Any idea how long a confirmation takes, will it be immediate?

You may be entitled to compensation for this cancellation. See here for further advice:

When Ryanair sets up an automatic link for a refund, in my experience it is robust. I have accepted one such offer and I have received two other offers which I left as was. They usually give you a time limit to accept the refund offer I think.

I recall that the actual credit on my card took a couple of weeks.

However you'll get an immediate online confirmation that your cancellation for agreed refund has been submitted successfully so don't worry further about that. Just make damned sure that there are enough seats available before you start at the new price you want. Do your checks first...If you want four seats, check that you can get say ten seats at the price you want. That'll give you some comfort. If not, then try six. If you can't get a quote for six when you need four (say) then you are already down to the wire and a risking having the cheap seats sold out before you can get them.

I was hoping to book first to ensure the seats & then cancel. Is this not a good idea? there appear to be 20 seats left at the cheaper price & further seats at a higher price, but still less than I paid originally.

Received refund today; so saving £150. I am now worried Ryanair may cancel the flight as there are still loads of seats left. Do they cancel undersold flights? Or just fly with few passengers?

    eevie,

Could I be cheeky and ask where the flight is to/ from?

I don't want them cancelling on me!

Glad you got your money back x

    Hi,
I was really interested in Steve xx post re airline compensation. In December 2006 we booked return flights from Newcastle to Amsterdam with Jet2.com
We actually heard it on the local news they were canceling this route with effect from June 1st which meant that whilst they could take us to Amsterdam on the 26th May, they were unable to bring us back on the 3 June. Two days later we had an email from Jet2.com giving us this 'news' There was no offer to fly us into another airport, it was arranging a refund (so much for debit card details not being kept) which incidentally has just recently been paid into our bank account. This all happened just 2 weeks before our departure date. The only return availability was with KLM business class, £1258 for 3 tickets so we ended up on the DFDS ferry which cost more than the tickets for Jet2.com. In your opinion, is it worth a letter to Jet2.com re compensation? Thanks in advance - Sally
