we are students renting the house so i'm hoping the landlord would pay for the later.

I rather doubt it, since the minimum OR charge is £130 if it turns out to be chargeable. Especially if you didn't ask him.
Do you not have a split faceplate NTE5 master socket?

I googled what you meant and yes we do have that. When we moved in the faveplaate was already off and the microfilter already plugged into the test socket and we've just been using it like that every since, so yes all our speed tests are from the test socket.

But you said in post 9 that you didn't have a test socket?
I'd put it back on before the OR engineer shows up.

I didn't know what you meant until I googled it, sorry. I'm at work so I won't be able to put it on, I'll ring someone and ask them to do it.
Edit: its a qube rep that's coming according to the email they sent me not an OR engineer

Exactly. So all he can do is check your extensions (which you've ruled out anyway by using the master socket) and probably your wireless connection. He can't test the line, so basically a waste of space. It's just TT's way to avoid possibly paying for an OR call out, and making some money in the process.

The rep who came out was free, my housemate let him him so I'll see what she says and then I'll ring TalkTalk if it isn't properly fixed.

Guy came and after he left we had another 2 disconnections, called them up and they released us from contract and are going to refund the £114 line rental. I've now signed up for Virgin media Fibre optic broadband and hopefully shouldnt have any issues now.
    Thanks for the replies.
