Fiesta humming noise at speed

Ford Fiesta Mk7 1.6TDCi 58 reg with 97k miles.
For about the last 20k miles I've had a humming noise at speeds above 50mph or so. Been coming and going but it's worse now.
It seems to start quiet and increase in noise up to about 60mph, it decreases in volume once you go faster!
Sounds like it's coming from the front of the car. It is entirely dependent on speed, doesn't matter what gear I'm in, if the clutch is pressed etc.
I've changed my tyres for new ones, no difference.

Wheel bearing imo
If you can be arsed, jack car up and give each of the wheels a wobble (top to bottom) and check for play. Chances are if one side is going the other will follow shortly0 -
Agree with the wheel bearing. My parent's car had this problem and they had to have a bearing replaced when they took it in.0

Right, tbh that's what I thought it was. I'll get it booked into the garage to have it checked over.
What sort of cost am I looking at, lets say both fronts need replacing? Would the rears be an issue?
Also what would happen if I leave it too long?0 -
I have a hum (whine) too but mine is rear diff. Some thicker oil need to shut it up me thinks.0

A hum that you haven't looked into for 20k miles?
Presumably there was an MOT/service somewhere in the middle of all those miles -- and a wheel bearing wasn't picked up then?0 -
Brakes don't judder do they?
I think wheel bearing too but there is the off chance of a warped disc. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Yes I mentioned it a few times, the Ford garage didn't find any issues. To be fair it wasn't as loud or as pronounced as it is now.0 -

Bizarre.
I'd have thought the obvious suspects for this problem would have caused an MOT failure. All except the tyres of course -- and they've already been replaced.0 -
Tyres, Bearings, Brakes, Diff, Gearbox etc..
Or from the engine side, Split turbo pipes or a worn turbo or exhaust issue.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
