Problem with Paypal and Cashplus Prepaid Mastercard

I have been using my cashplus card for paypal purchases with no problem at all.
Until today, when the account was £65 overdrawn.
How does a prepaid Mastercard end up overdrawn???
How did I find out?
I logged onto the online account yesterday and today and the balance was "unavailable".
Phoned Cashplus and the balance was "unavailable"
Spoke to someone at Cashplus who told me the account was overdrawn.
How?????
Easy! Paypal didn't claim payments made on 11th May. Didn't take them until 4th June.
Cashplus hold the payments for 10 days and if they are not claimed, cashplus return the monies to the account - except that cashplus didn't tell me this and I hadn't noticed the money had been put back.
So, now the money has been spent, Cashplus paid Paypal anyway and made my account overdrawn - no charges or anything like that, though, they are just demanding immediate payment.
Has anyone else had this problem with Paypal and a bank account or Paypal and a prepaid?

I haven't used a pre paid card so can't comment about that. However, it is not uncommon for items both on debit and credit cards to come through several weeks or even months after the actual payment was made.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That is the most stupid thing I have heard about Paypal.
In this modern age of computerisation and payment with just one click of a button, why does it take weeks and months for a payment to go through?0 -

It's not just a paypal thing though. I've had several examples turn up ages after supposedly paying my bill....the best one was for an emergency cab we had to use once long distance. They took a card over the phone, we signed a slip in the car and for several weeks thought we'd got a rather expensive (£70+) cab ride...turned up on my visa bill approx 4 months later.
On the various finance boards on MSE there are a lot of threads about how long some transactions take to come through. It's not so bad if you keep accurate records as you allow for it, but can be a shock if you are more of a put it on the card and just pay it every month and forget about it , sort of gal like me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Prepaid cards don't work like that.
The money is on the card and is taken on payment.
The problem is that if the payment is not claimed - by paypal - within 10 days - they put the money back but don't inform!! So, three/four weeks later, when the money is claimed, that money may have been spent, not realising that the original payment had not been taken.
This has only just happened and I have had my prepaid Mastercard for more than a year - it didn't happen before. I only use my prepaid card for paypal, for nothing else.0 -

Yes, it would be - they get revenue from it! That's not to say there's anything wrong with the card, but they don't just recommend it out of the goodness of their hearts ...
Oh, and from what I can see it doesn't appear to be Chip & PIN, which may cause difficulties in some places. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -

Please explain that, couldn't understand any of it
As Soolin says its not just Paypal, loads of places take ages to claim.
I used a prepaid travel card a couple of years ago that ended up overdrawn for the same reason..0
