Oh how terrible for someone to have a different opinion and voice it. I leave honest reviews on recipes, as that helps other people to make up their minds whether or not they want to bother. I'm not the only person on this thread who has dared to not like your precious 'hob nobs'.
A - they aren't mine
and B, yes of course you are allowed to have your opinion, but did you have to make it so nasty and personal?
Even this post you are just so aggressive, is there really any need for it?
As I said we get that you didn't like them, but you came over as a leading authority on biscuits and that we were all childish for liking them
This isn't your blog, nor is it a review site, what it is, is a really friendly helpful and supportive place to post, your post was none of the above0 -

Of course everyone is entitled to an opinion but I must disagree with your wording they are not my Precious hobnobs merely a recipe I thought people would like to try and that's an end to it0 -
I've been using this recipe for years, thanks twink! Everybody who has tried it loves it.
Confession time: I have made it with butter, with marg and also with vegan 'butter'... and I can't tell the difference. I must be an oaf, but I'm happy so I don't care.0 -
Thanks twink; I've regularly made them, shared the recipe, referenced them, sold them at bake sales, made them as presents, dipped them in chocolate. They are always popular and ahem, regularly outsell (sorry Whizzbang) the shortbread at our bake sales.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I add finely chopped crystalised ginger, which was all I had in the cupboard once when I made them and wanted to jazz them up. I've given them away, sold them at fundraisers, shared the recipe dozens of time and never had anyone do other than swoon over them. There are a lot of biscuits/cookies I don't like and can't be bothered to bake or buy, but this one is a firm favourite.
Thanks for the information about vegan butter Rach K - it's very rare I have to cater for a vegan but your take on it is really helpful. Would you recommend any particular vegan butter? I've never tried using one - would the dough freeze raw, as it does with real butter?Better is good enough.0 -
Just wanted to add my thanks to Twink too. I love the recipe only I make them gluten free either using gf oats or buckwheat flakes. They are very popular with everyone!2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0

Worth keeping them in the oven a little longer ?0 -
To crisp up - remove from oven, cool slightly, remove from tray and put on a cooling rack that then goes back on the tray. Put back in the oven as it cools or I put mine in the top oven (which is not on but warm) while I cook something else.0
