New Contract or buy a phone and sim?
Hi guys
My contract is up soon with Orange. £36 a month
1200mins
ultd txts
ultd data (capped at 1gb?)
Ive been looking through the forum and on Google, im just trying to decide whether to go for another contract or just buy a phone. I couldnt find a specific chat which compares the two down the middle.
I see really good sim only deals with virgin, ovario and giff gaff. Got a leaflet through my door today virgin £15 a month ulimited everything 30 day rolling contract. Sounds amazing!
Ive only got an old iphone 3gs so will need to upgrade, so do I just go out and buy a new phone or ebay it?
The questions I really want to ask is do you really save hundreds of pounds not getting a contract, is there much in it?
I work for myself so have to consider insurance and tethering two major things I need. I like the idea of saving money by buying a phone, but I know i can put the contract through my business.
I also know a lot of the smaller companies there is problems with tethering such as virgin and giff gaff.
Any ideas?
All help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Whether you'd be better off buying a phone and sim only package or taking out a combined phone and airtime contract depends on your needs and the specific deal you're considering.
It's easy enough to compare phone and sim only deals to contracts by calculating the cost over the length of the contract (usually 2 years).
Sim only gives you flexibility to change but the contract includes the price of credit of the phone.
There is some good value at the low end of the contract market particularly from talkmobile and if you can get a good cashback deal that might make a contract better value, but I'd say in most cases you're better off buying the phone up front if you can afford it.0 -
Only 3 officially support tethering as part of your plan and if your new phone is a iphone Apple see the sim and the network has to unlock tethering, 3's £18 One plan is 30 days with 2000 mins, 3000 texts and unlimited data (with tethering)SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0
