Thompson Cruise holidays - Emergency cancellation advice

Hi
I've had emergency surgery which has led to me being advised to cancel my holiday in the next month and Thompson have informed me that they are unable to postpone the holiday due to my terms and conditions. Please can anyone advise me on my next step as we don't want to lose a great amount of money if at all possible. We would like to change the date of the holiday if they will allow us but haven't had the greatest experience when speaking to staff over the phone.
Thanks
Becky

You will have to claim on your insurance policy and then re-book your holiday with Thomsons from scratch.
Did you book directly with Thomson or through a travel agent? Either way, it is almost certain that you will have to cancel your holiday but if you booked with an agent then you do it through them.
You also need to contact your insurance company advising them of the situation and also get a note from your doctor confirming that you are unfit to travel.0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
This board is just for reporting holiday deals, bargains and special offers. I'll move you on to the main holiday board.Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. It's probably much too late to change the date so you'll need to ask Thomson for any refund you're due in accordance with their cancellation policy, probably no much if you're due to go within a month, and claim the remainder from your travel insurance. You should then only be out of pocket by whatever your insurance excess is and can re-book for a more suitable date.
This is exactly the kind of situation travel insurance is for.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Far easier to claim on your insurance and start again.0
