Refurbished ipad question.

If you're talking about the Apple Smart Case, then I'm pretty certain it wont fit with a gelaskin on it. It will be a snug fit already, so gelaskin will then make it too big to fit. And if I'm honest, it's over priced for what it is. There are cheaper ones on ebay that do the same case wise.
Smart cover wise I got mine second hand (ipad 2) from a pawn shop for a tenner iirc with a mark on it. sticker on that, and bobs your uncle. I had a real aversion to pay full price for one, but second hand I was impressed how it worked, and actually bought the mini brand new from apple. That is, once I worked out that the magnets worked with the gelaskin on mine as reviews said the apple mini smart cover was not as good magnet wise. However I've seen no difference between the ipad 2 or mini frankly.
I guess if you're going to cover it in a full case I'd prolly not bother with a gelaskin, if you're likely to use it with out a full case it's worth it just to stop any scratches when putting it on a table or something. Half the fun with the gelaskin is to see the back of the unit anyway. But then to some, the whole point is to see the apple back to announce you're an apple fan0 -
You defintely want to get a case rather than just the cover on its own. Have you seen how many ipad 2/3/4 are for sale on ebay with dents in one or more of the corners?
The original apple case for the ipad 1 gave all round protection. I was never fond of it but my ipad 1 has spent every day of its life in it and is in absolutely mint condition.
For my new one I bought this one

Every time I lift it, I think "I DO like this case!"
And there'll be no dented corners for my baby.0 -
Dented ipads come from people with no care. If I were looking for an ipad second hand I'd steer well away because that just means they've been dropped on their corners.either kids or adults. It usually is a symptom of being dropped or banged more than once. It's easy, if you have a kid get a survivor case (for the kid or ipad, either way!) otherwise adults should have enough care to not want to throw something that costs £400+ around, on tables, floors, or leave in places where people walk.
I've had my ipad 2 with out a case on it, and my mini which has no case either and none are damaged, but that's because I appreciated how dear they are, and are careful with it to begin with.0 -
Well, I am very careful with mine but there have been a couple of occasions when if it hadn't been in a case it would likely have a dent. Both were on BA flights when I put it in the seat pocket and it fell right through as the bottom of the pocket was ripped. The magazines etc didn't fall out as they were kept in place by the elastic at the top of the pocket but the ipad just fell straight through.0
