    I think I'm going for a non-cellular model and I'll get a 3g mifi.

Now storage options 32g or 64g? When I have a laptop I tend to keep it years (8 :o) regardless of how technology moves on so I think bigger storages for music, books and photo's plus the usual stuff. Do apps take up a lot, they will be new to me?

This wont last 8 years. You will fine that maybe 3/4/5 years the ipad wont be supported ios wise, and more frequently app wise.

Apps can take a fair chunk of space, with data store with them, so games etc.
Movies, music are big culprits too :D

It's easy, you will never be able to make bigger, so buy the biggest you can afford. my mini and ipad 2 is 64, my iphone is 32. I'd rather have the space to just dump the lot on it and not have to connect and itunes and transfer etc and generally !!!! around with trying to space it out. You never want to max it as it'll run appallingly, and be a pain if you want to update an app with no space. Also the iOS takes a reasonable gig+ itself so a 64 will not be 64, it'll prolly be around 61/62 iirc.

How many apps and how much they take up isn't something you can say. It depends type, and if it's a game, how good, and how much data it saves, and also what happens is if you use an app for viewing any format films, which i do it saves the films under the app (which can be confusing if you suddenly question why you have apps of 40gb in size :D)

The more you use it, the more you'll find you can do with it, and probably in the close future the more you'll wish you had more space on it, especially if you're using it as a media device, so photos, music, movies etc.

Well, funny you should ask. As well as being 3g, my first iPad was 64gb. I found after 3 years I still had about 30gb free so with this latest one I have gone for 32gb as well as being only wifi.

I don't store music but have 4500 pics and hundreds of books.

I figure if I ever get near the limit on this new one, I'll just have to maintain good "housekeeping".

That's a no-brainer for me - gotta be black. I use mine a lot to view pics and think the black border provides a better frame for them.

    Neither!

I utilise Gelaskins (real original ones) for my iproducts. Actually use them on everything I can now. Protect the back from scratches etc, and covers the bezel, combined with a smart cover and it's perfect protection for me :D

That is what I was thinking too. :)

Interesting. I would like to find out more about these.

Where do you buy them from in the UK?
Do you use these as well as a ipad cover?

I basically use them with just a smart cover. The apple smart cover (with mini/ipad 2) will work on top of the gelaskin, but a couple of the cheap wannabe chinese ones don't as the magnets in the cover aren't strong enough to hold decently through it.

I've bought from Ireland on ebay just search gelaskins, but also bought a couple direct from http://gelaskins.com/ themselves.

I have had my ipad2 in one of the military styled cases (griffin survivor pink case) briefly, which fits with the skin on. However other close fitting cases won't. But I tend not to give mine to kids, throw it around, or stand on it so I just only use it with the smart cover and the gelaskin. I then cut out a screen protector for the actual screen exposed at the front. You might find this annoying, but It's what scissors are for ;)

For the cost of it, it covers the part that will get scratched, which does help if I want to sell it, and also it just makes it stand out for me to see better. And IMO it makes the object so much less "generic". I have one on my phone, but then my phone migrated into a cat shaped rubber case anyway, so moot point there.

It adds a couple of mm size wise for thickness, and costs about £20-£30 direct from US for an ipad one (cheaper on ebay). It is reusable supposedly, although whilst I've peeled off to adjust, I just keep them on all the time. Gelaskins seem to not damage the underlying product with the "glue" to keep them on, they peel on/off easily, without leaving residue. I have used a different brand that I got on amazon uk as it was the only one I could find to fit my my old HTC desire HD and found a fair difference in quality between the two.

Gelaskins are created to fit them, so all holes and whatnot are cut out properly and really does actually fit it easily. No squinting it or anything like cheap copy products

Oh! And then you download a wallpaper for the lock/all screens, if you like, to finish the effect, that again matches up to your outside bezel.

For durability, I've had the mini on for 6 months now, it's like new. The ipad 2 for almost 2 years, again it's not as new looking, there are marks in it, but colour and shapes kept, and that's with both of them being thrown into a handbag, with keys, phone, purse, random objects like the kitchen sink etc, so I think they're well worth the cost, but are not a case/cover if you feel you need the extra protection that an appropriate case/cover will give you. If you use the skin then using a case might be a problem if it's a tight fit case. However I know survivor cases did fit, and these pouch ones fit as well.

Thank you, it's all very interesting. I like the idea of customising it.

I was going to get the ipad full cover, would that work or better off with just the screen cover one?
