I'm not an anti royalist. However, the news in the last 2 days plus the extra TV programmes has been ridiculous. Two events, the birth of the new prince and his leaving of hospital with his parents could have been reported in 5 minutes. But the rest from Nicholas Witchel et al has been speculation not news at all. ITV chose to change its scheduled programme from Long Lost Families to an hour-long extra programme about the birth. I switched off after the "live from Buckleberry" item when they suggested that the baby would play in the local playground and be best friends with local children! None of us know the royals personally so why should there be this huge media coverage?
I was not one of those who wept hysterically when Princess Diana died - I did not know her, neither did I think the Queen should return to London when the most important task was to support and care for her grandsons.
Please can we get things into proportion!

Totally with Sierra Bravo, but hope you mean 5 minutes total coverage for the two events :) How long does it take to say 1) 'Kate's had a baby, it's a boy it weighs 8 1/2 lb' 2) They're leaving hospital, here's a picture. Job done.
