Find your local LETS group. LETS is a moneyless trade system.

ie - You need someone to fix your computer, you can look after someones hamster while they are on holiday. We have plumbers, electricians, gardeners, shoppers, curtain/dressmakers, maths (and other) tutors for your kids, drivers etc all on offer in our group. Plus people selling items for the moneyless currency we use :) Google LETS and your local town to find a group near you. Its a nice way of meeting people too :)

dont buy toiletries and cleaning stuff from the supermarket....wilko's is FAR cheaper. sometimes over a pound on certain things....
  • Just seen 'Wife Swap' programme on the television and had the experience of viewing how two very different families lived. One family claimed they were very healthy and didn't need all the chemicals and cleaners that the other families regularly purchased to free them of germs. I am a big purchaser of cleaning products but now feel I may be a bit obsessive about owning so many products.
My husband once made a spending chart of how much of our cash went on toiletries, fresh foods, takeaways etc. and this was a real eye opener to us. both. I intend to make further cuts because I feel clever marketing is encouraging us all to part with our money. Not me! Happy shopping.
  • Get a prepaid debit card and you will be more aware of your spending. Take it with you when you go out or shopping, when the money runs out then you know your spending has reached its limit. You won’t get unexpected bank charges for getting overdrawn. This was a nightmare for me. You might them observe you debts dwindle. You can check all about it out here https://www.goeasykard.com.

    Hi Patty,
I stopped buying all polishes etc. The only things I use now to clean is Stardrops, it costs about 69p! Its absolutely fantastic. You can use it anywhere. I buy supermarkets own brand toilet/bath cream, does the same job. You can even use the Stardrops to wash floors. You can but it with added bleach. Hope this helps.

Thanks Eupho. My only worry now is that I heard recently that the cause of a recent house fire was found to be fluff in a tumble dryer that was on while the household was asleep. Please please make sure all your fluff is gone if you tumble whilst your're asleep (if you see what I mean!)

Oooo.. Im pretty good with that.. but I will defo keep a better eye on it, thankyooo

If you have a need for a regular monthly prescription that you have to pay for speak with your Doctor about putting more meds on the one prescription. ie 3 months worth of pills for the price of one prescription.

Also, if your pet needs any meds you can ask your vet to provide you with a prescription and purchase online. If you get a repeat prescription it's valid for 6 months.

Another little tip that works for me only change your lenses when they are tired and worn and not monthly like it states.

Beware of this - you can get nasty infections from protein build-up on the lens if you keep the lens too long... Regular and through cleaning will help you get the most from them though :)

Other good places to look for contacts...

Only trouble with that is each item is charged for on prescription, at the moment nearly £7 an item,
