Great 'ways To Cut Back' Hunt

My mum told me this one and it's great...just wish I had known at the start of the summer, not the end!!! Anyway, if you spot an ice cream van and fancy a treat, just have a quick look around to see if there is an Iceland/Farmfoods/any other grocers/supermarket nearby and buy a pack of ice creams from their frozen departments. You can get the same icecreams (Mars/Bounty/Snickers etc) for half/third of the price of a van bought one. If you have any left over in the box make someone elses day by giving the left overs away for free. It will still be a lot cheaper overall. Obviously doesn't work in all situations (i.e. not many Icelands in country parks these days!) but a good point to bear in mind...:T0

i did the ice cream thing with my kids. At the beginning of summer I spent £5 on ice creams from asda brought loads of smarties, yorkie, rocket, corneto ice creams and then on ice cream day they could choser whatever they wanted from the freezer. They thought it was fab and often they would have their icecreams before the van came and feel like they were having even more of a treat.May 2015 £10 a day currently £2080

GOOD IDEAS
1. Take your own carrier bags to TESCO - 1 Clubcard point when you don't use new bags.
2. Buy shops own tea - I love my tea and find it hard to tell the difference.
3. Matalan often sell perfectly good blokes T-shirts for £2 (a bargain!)
4. Don't speed when driving - This burns petrol like nobody's business.
5. If you sell on Ebay - Re-use packaging (card, bubble-wrap). I have a box full of the stuff and it saves me a fortune. Particularly good are old washing tablet boxes. If you've got a large roll of brown tape and brown wrapping paper you're sorted!
6. Sell all those 'free' newspaper DVD's that are cluttering up the place on ebay - You'de be amazed how much you'll get for them (this applies to all sorts of stuff you might think worthless. Do some searches on there and see what I mean!)
7. Snack on monkey nuts in their shells! They cost about 85p (Sainsburys and Morrisons do the best ones I've found) for a bag that'll last for days and it'll save you a fortune if you're a serial snacker (like me!)
8. Share your bath water!!! Just make sure you're the first in
9. Buy a windup radio - Mine has a torch and the ability to give a mobile phone a burst of energy. I bought mine new for £15 (try Millets or Argos) and it's great fun (I'm a very sad person!)
10. Hook up the exercise bike to a dynamo to power your TV great incentive to pedal faster to stop you missing the end of Corrie
NOT SO GOOD
1. Shopping at some of the cheaper supermarkets - sometimes the food is so sub-standard you end up chucking it! Only buy from these places on recommendations.
2. Shops own washing powder - I've yet to find one that's as good as a named brand - I end up using twice as much!TOP VIZ TIP:
'Pop a few tea bags in your hot water tank and you can make a hot cuppa
anytime by just turning on the tap.

Thanks for a great post, but I'd have to disagree with this one. Take Sainsbury's Basics Biological powder, for example. It costs 50p per kilo, whereas Persil costs £2.50 per kilo. At that rate, you could use 5 times as much JS Basics powder before you even equalled Persil!!£2 coin savers club: £1.49

When baking or cooking in your oven, let it cool down after use with the door open to let the room get an extra blast of heat. Of course be extra careful if you have children or pets around. But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0

:j When printing things off, save ink by clicking on 'printer settings/preferences' and changing it to 'draft' - it still prints just as well, but uses much less ink!!
