Sorry if this has already been suggested...

If you use disposable nappies, switch to shops own brands!!!

They're just as good as Huggies, Pampers etc but half the price!!! Same goes for wet wipes!!! Personally, I like the Asda ones, they do the larger size nappies in big boxes which makes them cheaper still plus the empty boxes can be used for a multitude of purposes!!! If you buy your nappies from Boots, they often have them on 3 for 2 and you can collect advantage points and in turn use the points to buy more nappies!!!

And before anyone tells me off for using disposables.... I tried re-usables nappies and didn't get on with them. I spend £8 per week on nappies for my 2 children, both of whom I hope to have nappy free by the time they are 2. Making my total spend on nappies £832!!!! :rotfl:

I'm preparing for when my baby is due in September and bought Newborn Huggies with the vouchers you get sent but when i looked in Sainsburys the Newborn nappies were only £1.39 for 28 nappies

Also in Boots if you are a member of the parenting club and put your advantage card in the machine before you make your purchase you can print off a voucher so that you can get 12 points per £1 spent on nappies etc

I wld recommend Tescos nappies not the value ones but their own brand. I'm convinced they are made by Pampers as they are pretty much identical. Could have kicked myseld though cause used Pampers for a year before trying them out.

I've used Asda's George Nappies for years...(Oh when will it end!) Would have tried re-usables but only have a few months to go now - I HOPE! Always buy the big boxes. Only buy Pampers/top brands if I have vouchers and they work out cheaper. Never had any problems

If you like having fresh flowers, try gerbera daisies. Just one or two of them in a plain vase can look very stylish, especially if they're brightly-coloured.

To make flowers last longer, put a drop or two of bleach into the water (no more or you might kill them). This apparently stops them decomposing so quickly. Works for me, anyway.

Useful tip - thanks. I would also recommend buying an orchid - they are now reasonably priced and will flower for months.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D
  • Hello

Here's a money saving tip that someone might have already mentioned.

If your paying a high Contact lense price to one of the main companies (like i am but about to change) cancel the direct debit and go to either the ASDA or TESCO site and order from there. They are much cheaper.

It currently costs me £18 a months for my monthly disposables but on TESCO's site i can get the exact same ones for £24 for a three month supply.

Another little tip that works for me only change your lenses when they are tired and worn and not monthly like it states.

collect/cut out all the money-off coupons you can get your hands on.

If you shop at ASDA or Tesco, they will usually take any old voucher regardless of whether you have bought the product or not.

Result - money off your shopping.

Very true... my nearest Sainsbury's accept Tesco's vouchers and vice-versa.
