legal return period

is there a legal return period for a new contract, someone I knew took one through a online retailer - http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/

vodafone activated 25/5 & on the 29/5 they got a text about LIVE becoming chargable, they dont want it now ( previously on Voda payg where LIVE was free aswell )

I think if you have used the phone or sim you are stuffed, there has been a lot of discussion on here about the changes to Vodafone live charges for a while now.

Did they not rec a text on their old PAYG sim from Vodafone to inform them of the changes?

Most networks have a 14 day returns/exchange policy; it doesn't matter if you've already made calls/texts from the phone, you'll just be charged for the days that the contract has been in your posession.

Sales of Goods Act for Mail Order/Online Purchases is 7 Days from receipt. So too late now under that rule.

I'd contact them and see if they have a 14 day return policy in place. Or even an exchange to someone else? if that fails.

Just looked at their T's & C's on site:

10. Returning Contract Connections and Contract SIM Connections

10.1. If you are dissatisfied in any way with any contract connection or contract sim connection it is essential that you return it to Mobile Phones Direct within 7 days of connection. The day the handset / SIM is connected by Mobile Phones Direct is classed as day one.

Looks like it's out of time.

Couldnt return within 7 days as were away, family member signed for it, they didnt even e-mail/contact to confirm order accepted, dispatch, order processing or anything - it just arrived more than a week after the order was put in online, online tracking never would let them sign in, they assumed they were denied by Voda - thats terrible in my opinion, connection happened on 25/5 Voda have said

They did e-mail on back on 31/5 advising return & disconnection but bank holiday FRI & Mon so they could not return it, but they were advised to, copy of email forwarded to me..........
