I'd be inclined to not offer him food so often, at that age, depending on the dog, I'd be feeding four or three times a day. If the dog wasn't eating all of a four a day meal, I'd reduce it to three meals.

    Hi there
He has gone from 4.9 to 6.4 in weight!! Well I don't know how!!! Vet says he's fine give him a thorough check and said not to worry he won't starve himself
He said to buy a good feed and just stick to it and same as advised on here, only put it down 3 times s day for 10 mins
    Very relieved
So he had a handful of Arden grange and we went to puppy class
He threw it up in car lol then on the way back threw up all the sausage bits he'd had there!
    Dosnt like travelling then!

Don't feed him before travelling then, or he'll start worrying about the possibility of being sick

Glad everything is OK. I went through the same things with Lenny, was worried he wasn't eating enough but every time I weighed him he was gaining. He'll be fine, as the bet said they won't let themselves starve.

For what it's worth I now feed Lenny on Eden holistic dog food. It's made with pure naturla ingredients, no fillers or corns like most of the brands you find. It's not even that expensive I don't feel. I paid £49.99 for 15kilos and the great thing is, it's the same food for puppies and adult because the quality of ingredients are so good. He absolutely adores it, poops firmer, hasn't pumped for weeks (previously stank!!) and his coat has gotten much softer :)

Keep it up he'll be grand.

Hi, can I please just ask something as I'm thoroughly confused now! I was told that puppy food is different to dog food, not because of the quality of ingredients but because puppy food contains more extras like calcium and other minerals associated with growth of healthy bones, teeth, etc. I was told it was dangerous for dogs to eat this kind of food because it was possible to "over develop" and cause joint problems. And it was equally bad for puppies to eat regular dog food because there isn't enough of the growth-enhancing stuff in it. Is that all rubbish??!

From what I've read yes, it's all marketing bull! I've spoken to a number of reuptable breeders aling with some dog trainers and they've all agreed that it's only fairly recently that "puppy" food has been around. These breeds are hundreds of years old, 20 years a go a dog got fed food no different to a puppy, I don't see why it should be different now.

Eden say specifically on their site that it's for puppies and dogs alike. If you check out the ingredients compared to those on the likes of bakers or hills then you'll see there's lots of fillers and grains along with non descript meat products! Far worse to be feeding that than worrying about a few minerals, which are more than likely available in the higher quality food used in Eden.

P.s I don't work for them haha! I've just read so much bad stuff about the big named brands of dog food.

Those who feed their dogs raw food (BARF DIET) feed the same food stuffs to a puppy/teen/adult dog, so I really do think it's a marketing ploy!
