Hi,
Just been on live chat looking to swap over to BT so I could get the free bt sports. Turns out I can't swap over without taking my line rental to them too. I don't want to take my line rental to them but can't have their broadband without it. I've been looking at their adverts and all state free with broadband yet in the small print again state plus line rental of X amount. Does anyone else find this unfair? Surely they should state free with bt broadband AND line rental and not leave it to the small print.

Its not in the small print. Its clearly stated in all the adverts. So just because you never noticed it doesn't mean its unfair. It just means you never noticed it.

Are you sure about that,

Tell me where on there you see plus line rental. Only when you proceed to order does it tell you you have to take line rental. Live chat clarified that for all their packages you must take line rental, no option to take broadband only and receive the free BT sports2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -
Presumably because of BT's unique universal service obligation, you can't just have broadband or calls-you must take their line rental. Nothing to do with BT Sports in particular. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

its under the legal stuff
"BT Sport is free for new and existing customers. BT Broadband for new customers from £10 a month (plus line rental £15.45 a month)"
Found it...0 -
And I've just heard an ad for this on the radio -
"Free for BT Broadband customers. BB from £10 a month, plus line rental at £15.45."
And thats what all the billboard/newspaper ads say too.0 -

Now re-read what you have written. Its not free for broadband customers is it, its free for broadband customers who also take out line rental, of which I don't require.
Have you clicked on the link above, no mention of line rental on there. Indeed, no mention of any 12-18 month contract either until you get to the choose package stage.2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -
I'm on Virgin Media at the moment and we have the XL packae with Sports added, Broadband and phone. We're paying around £80 a month including line rental.
Am I right in thinking I will save half of that amount including line rental if I swap?
It's all very confusing but with having 3 men in the house Sports channels are the main thing along with broadband for all the Gaming and Streaming that goes on
What are the hidden costs? Been with Virgin for so long I'm paranoid about moving.0 -

See post #5. Its all there all right. Which goes back to my original point. Just because you didn't know about the facts of it doesn't mean its unfair. It just means you didn't know about it, thats all.
Though it must have been a surprise to you if you didn't know. Truth is, tunnel, if there is no physical BT phoneline, there is no physical BT BB line either. Sorry about that.0 -
Yep, I know your right, just doesn't make it right, the wifes even had a letter from BT today. It states...as with all providers, you'll need to pay line rental(doesn't state theirs), ours works out at..blah blah. It only states in the t'c & c's that you have to sign for 18 months AND take line rental. Looks like i'll try one of the streaming sites and see what all the fuss is about;)2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0
