Tomorrow I have an appointment at the JC where the advisor will give me some advice on how to get round you are 'too experienced' replies. I will let you know what she says as she has said she was asking her manager and after all they are meant to be the people who are specialists in recruitment/employment.

It will be the usual, Dumb down your CV and dumb your voice down.

And to that my reply would be

1 - how do I know how the company rate their job when I am reading it as the same as I did as my last job

If I rate myself with my experience 10 on my CV and I read an advert and I think its 9 then how do I know the company actually think its a 6 or 7 or how would I know I am not experienced then the person who I would reporting to? None of these Q the JC will be able to answer.

    and

2 - if you dumb down a CV how do you explain what you have done in 20 years in accounts or how do you explain not learning, not progressing, not being promoted?

    I love this bit

Mandatory Intervention Regime (MIR) – a more intensive offer of flexible and personalised adviser based support for a period of six months.

LOL that's laughable as I am only attending my 2nd apt today since July!!! My 6 mths is up at the end of January!

It's more like ticking boxes for me as in this must be done and so must that, nothing individual or useful, next one is the forced labour box

Ok ready for this? I asked my advisor for advice on how to get past the 'you have too much experience' or 'you are over qualified for this role' responses.

She has asked her MANAGER at the JC and their reply was................do some voluntary work!!!

I asked then again how will this make me LESS qualified and or make them interview me, to which the reply was 'I am not sure'

This was the PROFESSIONAL reply as a representative of the DWP

They are meant to give advice on how to get a job as they say its so easy and assume we are all not working because we don't want to! LOL I joke here

You can not 2nd guess a advert for a role called STAFF ACCOUNTANT and assume they are after a junior (which is what they were looking for but the word and job spec read differently) when it made no mention of it being an entry role or do not apply if you have over say 10 years exp etc.

Dumbing down a CV could make you UNDER qualified or they ask you 'with 20 years exp why have you not learnt this' or 'with 20 years experience you have had no promotion, why' or 'you don't know much do you'?
