Naming accounts - HSBC

I'm just wondering whether I am able to rename my HSBC accounts? I've got several accounts now to make saving for different things easier and it would be a lot easier if I could give them names. Thank you

I would say that TheEffect's post is not entirely true. It is possible to have small adjustments (by small I mean they cannot affect the way the computer system reads the account) to the name of an account on your paying in books or how the product appears on internet banking.
I've seen many people with the words "No.2 account" added on to the cheque/paying in book for example. Or a "2" added to the name on internet banking.
Ultimately, there is no particular reason for HSBC to agree to changing the name (you have different account numbers, is that not enough?), but technically and historically I would say it's possible to at least have some additional annotations.0 -
It is possible to rename an account. Only a small abbreviation can be used to display the product on internet banking for example "svngs" or "house". Just ask at branch.0

The way I've done it is in the Reference box put relevant things such as Rent, Housekeeping, Bills. I've never had an error message saying the reference is too long. For paying utility bills, you could have to put your account number for the utility in the reference box and some can be 10+ digits and HSBC allow for this.0

Nothing wrong with the 80s!
Internet banking is still behind branch banking in that it has little to no discretion on the little things, if it isn't cost effective to introduce on-line it wont be introduced on-line, whereas branches still have many long-term staff or staff willing and able to comply with odd requests0 -

That's a good idea. Thank you.

HSBC are very behind the times. Their mobile app is a pile of s*it compared to the Barclays one. With Barclays you can rename your accounts and rearrange the order. You could for example have the account you use most at the top of the screen. HSBC don't offer any of this.Money is a wise mans religion0 -

Crikey. The very best if luck to HSBC if this kind of approach is company strategy / policy.0
